During July We Help Hotels visited Crete on different sites to help, observe and learn more about the ongoing problems related to ocean waste, waste-handling and lack of water. We also talked to several hotel owners of the concerns of scandinavian guest will be reluctant to choose Greece as to the increasing heat, stories about fires and how to maintain a good reputation and build up smarter ways to keep clients coming to the islands.
Did you know that Greece roughly buries 78 % of their waste as landfills. This number must really go down rapidly.
We are currently converting some of the findings to new services. Especially are we focussing on setting up better programmes for volunteers to participate in beach cleaning and helping to start local partnerships with key waste management players.
